State of Mind

Not only am I responsible for my internal mental state of mind, I’m also responsible for what I do with it.
I have it that my mind is like a body of water.
Left unstimulated/unused, it eventually stagnates like a still pond and becomes lifeless.

Science shows that many cases of dementia can be delayed, even prevented, through how we live.

Much like confusing pleasure (external/leads to suffering) with joy (internal/attached to gratitude), we confuse “entertainment” (external/watching someone else do something) with actual manual stimulation (internal/“I” am doing something-thinking).

What is often passed down “genetically” is the environment. An environment of sitting on one’s ass watching TV, drinking, staring at phone-doomscrolling social media such as, reading this post, I guess.
I arrogantly like to think I am stimulating… At the very least, good or bad, I’ll give you something to think about.

Creative use of one’s mind prevents dementia. There is a “use it or lose it” rule in place with our human brains.
Actually the same is true with all of our body parts. If I don’t work out, I get flabby.
The same thing applies to my brain.

I’m not telling you people what to do, but what I’d do is get busy. Be creative. Get engaged with others. Do stuff. Have “stimulating” conversations.

A stagnant pond/mind doesn’t happen overnight. It happens one passive day at a time.
