Sufferings

I’m not telling anyone else what to do, this is just what I do.

When I perceive suffering (s), negative energy, and such going on in my life, I first express my suffering with at least one person.

I never want to hold onto my “problems” alone. So I always have a safe fellow traveler I can confide in.

I used to hide my “sufferings,” but that was back when my life didn’t work. I was isolating and suicidal back then.

Since doing the work, I have learned not only catchy things like “a problem shared is a problem divided,” but also, as I learned in ACIM, “I learn about myself when I explain myself to others.”

It’s as if, when I don’t express the grief, the thoughts just ricochet around in my head and negative energy builds up as I fixate on “problems.

When I focus on my problems, I’m not noticing the many blessings happening at the exact same time.

When I express myself to another, it allows me to organize my thoughts in a way that is understandable even to myself as I speak the internal feelings into language.

Then, when I meditate, I often discover that many of the “sufferings” I perceive are because “what happened” in life is different from what I thought should have happened, and I’m still hanging on to the “should have” for some reason.

“What happened” is reality. Holding onto the “should” is pointless.

I accept and let go, and suddenly I am back at peace. Like a bird flapping its wings down for a landing.

For a little while, at least.

I’ve read “Humans create their own suffering.”
Accepting and letting go takes practice. I don’t think anyone is as good at it as they’d like to be.

What helps me is:

  • Never stop meditating.
  • Have safe people I can authentically share my sufferings with.
  • Pray for humility daily.
  • Practice gratitude.

Every day, I try to start the day by writing down one thing I am grateful for. I won’t face the day until I do. It gets my head pointed in a positive direction as I face whatever the day has in store for me.

I’m grateful for the safe fellow travelers I have, all of whom bless my life.

I love you all,
Thanks for reading.
