My Fellow Traveler

I haven’t been writing blog posts as much as I did in the past.

I still write, but I’ve also taken to being creative in different ways.

I just wrote an application called My Fellow Traveler. It’s been released for iPhones and Macs, and it is currently in beta testing for Android.

I might release it on Windows.

Getting onto these platforms for distribution, as I’ve come to find out, is sometimes more difficult than developing the app itself.

What My Fellow Traveler is, is an application designed to help teach Save A Warrior™’s Warrior Meditation® technique.

As far as finding peace while recovering from Complex-PTS, Warrior Meditation® was a crucial ingredient for me, and I know I am not terminally unique.

I still do a version of Warrior Meditation®. I say “a version” because I have modified my personal technique a bit over the years, but Warrior Meditation® is still the backbone of my personal meditation practice.

It’s how I learned the value of meditation.

My Fellow Traveler isn’t the first piece of software I’ve coded, but it is certainly the first to actually make it to the public!

Making it was both mentally stimulating and fun.

And I learned a whole lot.

The meditation application has a guided option. If selected, a woman’s voice comes on at the appropriate times to guide you through Warrior Meditation® audibly.

The woman wishes to remain anonymous.

I will say this about her.

I described the application to her and asked if she would be willing to come over, let me record her, and be the voice for the guided section.

She said she most certainly would.

She came over, sat at my computer, and put on my headphones.

I hit record.

She said all of it in one take, without a script.

I was astounded.

I played back a little bit of the audio to verify that we had it, and she left.

As I listened to the recording afterward, I realized it was perfect. It required no editing other than dividing it into the appropriate sections.

My only thought after that was to do her recording justice and put it in a package that honored her gift the best I could.

That became My Fellow Traveler.

The application is currently available in the Apple App Store and, God willing, hopefully on Android very soon.

Windows?

If anyone wants it on Windows, let me know. I think their hoops are easier to jump through than the others.

Theoretically.

When I have all the bases covered, which should be very soon, I’ll update the My Fellow Traveler page on Larmonster.com and provide direct links for each platform.

Thank you all!
