How I have it is, where I’m at in life right here and right now, and my “current situation in life” is a culmination of all the decisions I have made in the past.
Only when I take ownership of my decisions (not my “reasons”) do I have any control over the direction of my life.
I had to distinguish my “reasons” from my “decisions” in order to obtain control.
I cannot control life itself, only the direction I travel through it.
Life itself is always a crap shoot, and fairness is not written into the fabric of the universe.
My “reasons” do not gain me any sort of control. Reasons inform my decisions, often tied to my “opinions” (which are a dime-a-dozen and often “meh” in value).
If I cling to reasons and blame, this is where I often find myself avoiding responsibility for my life, blaming others, and I’m actually giving control away by clinging to reasons instead of owning my decisions.
Usually doing so with resentments attached, which manufacture negative internal feelings and emotions.
When I let go of resentments, I stop casting judgement, and notice I now have my hand on the steering wheel of the direction my life takes.
“Options” suddenly materialize out of nowhere when I do this.
Anyway, those are just things I’ve noticed when going through twelve step programs and taking others through.
I love you all, thanks for reading!
